Local farmers can now buy and
sell at their locally owned and
managed Gippsland Regional
Livestock Exchange (GRLE) in
Council took over management
of the facility at the weekend and
regular scheduled selling will
continue as normal.

Council, in line with its strategic

local agricultural sector was
acknowledged by Council two
years ago, when it invested $3.3
million into an upgrade.
The GRLE contributes up to $8
million of economic activity each
year in Wellington and supports
in excess of 120 local jobs.
Council is committed to
maintaining a first class standard
of livestock selling in Wellington
and the revised management
structure is a new era for GRLE
and the opportunities to build on
With a new website already
launched, buyers, sellers and
transporters can obtain all the
information they need about the
facility and past sale reports.
Couple this with the free Wifi now
available at the site, Council has
brought the GRLE into the 21st
century for local farmers.
Prior to the first store sale to be
held this Friday, a get-together
will be held to welcome sellers,
buyers, agents and transporters
to the facility.
All those within the agricultural
sector are invited to attend.

Entries are now being accepted for the 2018 Wellington
Youth Art Prize. This year’s theme is ‘Unity’ and entries are
invited from artists aged between 12 and 25 who live, study
or work within Wellington Shire.
An independent judging panel will meet and select winners
in all award categories.
Entries close Thursday 31 May and entries will be on display
at the Maffra Exhibition Space from 14 June to 23 July.
This year there will be an additional prize in the 20-25 age
group - a supported solo exhibition in the Maffra Art Space
to take place in 2019.
